Amantes en el Cielo explores the stories of Cristina and La Bonita, two trans cooks who have worked for decades on the cargo ships that tirelessly sail the rivers of the Peruvian Amazon. Facing personal and societal pressures, the pair are navigating evolving identities: Cristina, to fulfil a promise made to her dead mother and La Bonita, for fear of burning forever in hell.

Fermín de la Serna founded a magazine that has been printed monthly for more than twelve years in the City of Buenos Aires with interviews to the main characters of Argentine culture. His first two short films toured the world. His debut feature, Amantes en el Cielo, was shot entirely in the Peruvian Amazon and produced with the support of the Berlinale's World Cinema Fund. He is currently writing his first literary novel entitled “Ana Cristina Rebelde del Perú”.
