Esmir Filho is a brazilian filmmaker. His first film Os Famosos e os Duendes da Morte (2009) won the Rio Film Festival and was part of the Official Competition at the Locarno and Berlin Film Festivals. His short film Alguma Coisa Assim (2006) won Best Screenplay at the Critics' Week at the Cannes Film Festival. Saliva (2007), also shown at Cannes, was Brazil's short film representative in the Oscars race that year.
