Ventura Pons (Barcelona, 1945-2024) was a director, scriptwriter, and film producer. In 1977, after an initial decade in which he directed some twenty plays, he made his first film, "Ocaña, an Intermittent Portrait", which was in the Official Selection of the 1978 Cannes Film Festival. His twenty-five feature films have been shown at many international festivals, especially the Berlinale. He has adapted for the screen works by Quim Monzó, Josep Maria Benet i Jornet, Sergi Belbel, Lluís-Anton Baulenas, Jordi Puntí, Ferran Torrent, and Lluïsa Cunillé. His films frequently deal with desire, sex, gender problems, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
