Lana and Lily Wachowski are a directing duo who have created some of the most ambitious and esoteric blockbuster films of the last twenty-five years. They began in the 1990s, writing horror comic books before signing a deal at Warner Bros. After the first script they wrote was completely reworked into the film "Assassins", Lana and Lily decided that the only way to control how their stories were told was to direct them personally. They proved their chops with the low-budget erotic thriller "Bound", successful enough to convince Warner Bros to take a chance on the insanely ambitious and infamous sci-fi "The Matrix". Since then, and even though they only made seven films together before semi-retiring at the end of the 2010s, their filmography has been lauded as one of the most impressive and intimidating of any modern filmmakers.
